I Can’t Stand the Rain… or Can I?

Is there anything more fun than wearing something that feels sunny when the weather isn’t? I find that some of my favorite ensembles are born of the worst weather. It’s when I pull out some of my most mismatched getups. Some sweats tucked into a pair of rain boots with a Gore-Texjacket! Are we kidding?

I take the rain as an opportunity to explore.

There are jackets, shoes and accessories that we can really only wear when it rains and we should be taking more advantage of them! Rain gear is so severe and wholly impractical in almost any other setting that we forgot how cool it is. When was the last time you wore a poncho? Take rainy days as a chance to try a different silhouette. We’re permitted to look a bit crazy because of the weather.

Wear your rain cape, wear a big clunky water proof boot, but on a neon colored rain jacket, invest in a really good umbrella. There’s also something to be said about adapting what you already have to the weather.

Trench coats were made for rain...why are so many of you not wearing yours when it rains?

Bust out your baseball caps, break out your Barbour coats. If you bought an arc’teryx jacket during the whole gorp-core fad then wear the damn jacket. Put on the windbreaker that doesn’t match with any of your other clothes! My point is, we shouldn’t groan when we see that the weather has turned! There are so many chic, incredible pieces to put, so do it!
