Miu Miu’s Tales and Tellers in NYC

Last weekend, I stepped into a world that felt part theater, part dreamscape, and completely Miu Miu. Their Tales & Tellers exhibition took over New York’s Terminal Warehouse in Chelsea, transforming it into a surreal, immersive playground where fashion met storytelling in the most unexpected ways.

This wasn’t your typical gallery stroll. Instead, it felt like I’d wandered into a living film set.. Around every corner, performers embodied characters from Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales film series. They skated past in buttery yellow sweater vests, murmured operatic tunes in prim little dresses, or whispered poetic monologues in dimly lit corners. Each look, each movement, each moment was styled to perfection, equal parts whimsical and poignant.

Screens were tucked on the backs of skateboards and perched on racks of clothing. One moment I was watching a short film displayed in the exhibition’s cinema room, the next I was trailing after a performer whose screen was mounted on a backpack. The lines between fashion and film blurred beautifully, just like they do in real life, where the way we dress is so often tangled up in our identities, our emotions, our stories.

All throughout the event, there was this shared sense that fashion isn't just about clothes, but rather, about agency. About how we present ourselves, armor ourselves, express ourselves. The whole exhibition was refreshingly intimate. It wasn’t about spectacle for spectacle’s sake, it was about connection. It was about stepping into someone else’s shoes and seeing the world from their point of view, if only for a few minutes.

Miu Miu has always been great at playing with contradictions. Put-together but rebellious, delicate but bold. This exhibition was no exception. It was clever, curious, and full of heart. And as I left, I found myself thinking about my own “tales.” The ones I tell, the ones I hide, and the ones that maybe, just maybe, could be told through a really good outfit.
