These boots were made for…
I’ve been looking for a new pair of boots, but I’m stuck. I have cowboy boots, which I love for work and day to day, but they’re too nice to go out dancing in. I don’t want those terribly trendy motorcycle boots that every girl and gay in the East Village has because, well, I don’t. Docs are too…docs. Hunters aren’t practical enough. Rick, Demeulemeester, and Dirk are too expensive. So, I’m left with the never-ending hunt for something else. Something that feels chic, utilitarian, versatile, and something that’s reasonably priced.
Not a new problem, but one that I feel has become more and more pressing. Everyone I know seems to be looking for that ever so perfect pair of boots. So, where to turn. Part of me says thrift, another part of me doesn’t want to fight an iced coffee-toting Parsons Student. Then I think of motocross gear, I’ve been eyeing a pair of spendy, but sick, motocross boots for some time now. I have this fear they’ll be horribly uncomfortable, though. So I feel lost; this isn’t really a write-in sort of medium. I’d like to say I have the answers. My most recent hope has been the likes of SSENSE, Depop, and eBay, but my issue is needing to know what I want first. This is really all to say shoes never get easier, and, much like with all great clothing items, you don’t know the right pair until you see it. I think the real answer is to let the wind blow them to me and not be so worried about seeking them myself. I find the best things in life often find me and not the other way around. Anywho…cheers.
