NIKU X NYC
Unlimited Grand Wagyu Tasting Menu - $158 per person
Okay, writing this review is hard because it was a good price for everything you get… YES for sure! But due to it not being my first time at an unlimited wagyu tasting, my last experience being at HYUN in NYC, it is a bit difficult to explain my feelings.
Don’t get me wrong, for $158, getting all you can eat wagyu (pick your favorite cuts) with all the other sides and small plates, which are also included in the unlimited part, it is definitely a good bargain!
If I were to go back, I would recommend this crab wagyu fried rice, the A5 wagyu sando that had this blueberry jam, which was a really nice flavor combo with the meat.
Now, to compare it to HYUN, the quality is definitely NOT THE SAME. This doesn’t mean NIKU’s quality was NOT bad (let me make that clear); it’s just that if, like me, you have been to HYUN, you will taste the difference…

The ambiance of the space was elevated and modern, and the service was very attentive and nice. This is an important highlight to mention for me, as service and how the staff treat customers impact the meal greatly and can make or break an experience.
One thing to keep in mind when doing this unlimited wagyu experience is that wagyu itself is extremely fatty, therefore, it can be much more difficult than you think to eat as much as you would at an all-you-can-eat KBBQ experience. Overall, I did enjoy the experience and the food, but as I am writing this and really thinking about it, I think rather than thinking “wow this is the most amazing wagyu tasting,” it’s more about the overall bargain of the $158 deal. So the question is, would I recommend this spot? I do. It’s a great price for everything you get and can order, but I do not think it is the best quality of A5 wagyu out here in NYC.
