Sofreh Cafe

Now I know you guys have heard us rave about Sofreh the restaurant but did you know they also have a cafe?

The Queen Of Almonds

Let me just start with this statement. I WOULD DIE FOR THESE ALMOND PASTRIES! It’s light, not overly sweet, and the almonds add that perfect nutty texture and flavor that made me fall in love. Chef Nasim puts her heart and soul into each dish, and after meeting her and discussing her inspiration and story, I really connected with all her delicious treats. These “Queen Of Almonds” pastries were her personal favorites so of course I had to try them. And again, WOW, I get it. It was perfect, and out of everything I tried, these are a must for when you guys visit!

Latifeh

Moving on to the other sweet treats, we have the Latifeh, which was previously recognized by the New York Times as a must-try dish in NYC! Latifeh is a traditional Persian confection. It kind of reminded me of a cake-like vanilla macaron, with two rounds of pastry filled with fluffy, rose-flavored cream, with salted pistachios adding a nice nutty texture and flavor to the sweet treat.

If you love the flavor of rose I also reccomend this cake yazdi- caradamom cake with rose, vanilla bean and white chocolate cream.

CAKE YAZDI - cardamom cake with rose, vanilla bean, and white chocolate cream.

If you love the flavor of rose, I also recommend this cake Yazdi. It’s beautiful and perfectly sized for one person or to share if you're like me and just want a bite of everything. The cake was light, fluffy and floral, the perfect combination for your summer sweet treat.

BANANA BREAD - SALTED CARAMEL, SESAME SEEDS, TAHINI, DATES

Something I was very surprised I enjoyed as much as I did was their banana bread. Many people have recommended it to me, but I feel like I always get skeptical about band bread because it can get very personalized. But not only was Sofreh’s delicious it was gorgeous! Everything here is freshly baked and I got lucky and got a slice of the fresh batch that just came out of the oven!

JAHNAN "LIFE" BREAD WITH FETA, SAFFRON, CUMIN, AND A SIDE OF HONEY

Jahnan “life” bread with feta, saffron, cumin, and a side of honey was deliciously light, savory, and meaningful. This bread was inspired by a loss of Chef Nasim’s loved one and in sold/made in honor of him.

SAMBOUSE BEEF WITH YOGURT SAUCE

Delicious, give me 100 of them right now. These are flavorful, filled with tender slow slow-cooked beef, and a fun play on samosas. If you want a savory snack at the cafe, these are a must-order!

One thing that really stuck out to me is how friendly the ambiance of the space is, from the workers to the head chef, Nasim; it really was a great experience. This is definitely a spot you have to add to your list the next time you're in Brooklyn!
